causes of hunger
The causes of hunger include a lack of resources in developing countries. There is an estimated 1.3 million poor people living off $1.25 or less each day. More causes of world hunger included climate change, conflict (causing hunger) and harmful economic systems.
Poverty: This is the main cause of hunger because some countries are so under developed and they do not have the resources like other countries where hunger is not a big problem. There is also extremely unequal income distribution in some countries. The process of poverty reduction has been concentrated in Asia and there has been a dramatic improvement in China so far. In parts of Africa, the number of people in extreme poverty has unfortunately increased, Poverty is the principal cause of world hunger but the question is why? Why are so many people poor?
Climate: Natural disasters like storms and floods in poor developing countries, Droughts are also another cause to food shortages because of crop failure and loss of livestock.
War: War affects farming and food production. War also forces millions of people having to leave their homes which can also lead to hunger.
World hunger affects people of all ages because essentially if you don't have enough food, you will die. People are more likely to develop an illness because if you don't have enough food, you won't have the strength to fight the illness. People who are poor and have no food will have a higher risk of infection because they don't have a strong immune system.
